World Pest Day
Next week on June 6th we will be honoring World Pest Awareness Day. This day has been celebrated since the inaugural World Pest Day ceremony which was held at the Beijing Hotel on June 6th, 2017.

The purpose of World Pest Day is to bring awareness of how our quality of life, health, and the safety of our food and animals is affected by pest management. One of the key goals is to bring knowledge and respect to the deserving global pest control industry. It is also a chance to collaborate new ways of effecting positive change in public health worldwide.

Pests Are a Problem Worldwide
“Any plant, animal, insects, or germs that cause harm or damage to humans or their property are referred to as pests.”(Neha Dhyani) Pests can cause pain, discomfort, and disease. They can hurt or destroy food sources, and damage property. By bringing awareness and working together we can help solve many of the problems that pests cause.

What Are Some Current World Pest Issues?
A disturbing story reported this year in March had a headline that read, “Swarms Locusts (grasshoppers) tearing through the Karoo” The story went on to describe “swarms of locusts flying from west to east along the foothills of the Swartberg mountains” in this Western Cape province of South Africa.
