DIY Halloween Decorations
Halloween is just around the corner, and it’s time to decorate. While we spend most of the year trying to control pests, Halloween is a great opportunity to put them on display! Use these DIY decoration instructions to have the spookiest house on the block this year!
Bat Crafts:
Paper Roll Bats
What You’ll Need:
- Empty toilet paper rolls
- Black Construction Paper
- White Paper
- White Paint
- Black Paint
- Glue Stick
- Black Permanent Marker
Step 1: Paint your toilet paper roll black
Step 2: Fold black construction paper in half, then cut in half hamburger style.
Step 3: Cut the folded paper into wing shapes, unfold to create two wings.
Step 4: Glue wings onto painted toilet paper roll
Step 5: Draw eyes onto white paper using your permanent marker, they should each be the size of a quarter.
Step 6: Cut the eyes out and glue them onto bat
Step 7: Use white paint to draw a silly mouth onto the bat
Step 8: Repeat!

Bat Oreos
What You’ll Need:
- Oreo cookies
- Candy Eyes
- Melting Chocolate
Step 1: Remove filling from oreos
Step 2: Break cookie in half to create wings
Step 3: Apply melted chocolate to the edges of one cookie half
Step 4: Using the chocolate as your adhesive, attach broken cookie to either side of first cookie to create wings
Step 5: Add chocolate where the wings meet, and attach candy eyes
Step 6: Repeat and enjoy!

Spider Crafts:
Spiders in a Jar
What You’ll Need:
- Mason Jar
- Battery Operated String Lights
- Decorative Fluff (christmas or halloween style)
- Plastic Spiders
Step 1: Cut a 1 foot section of fluff, and pull it until it is partially separated
Step 2: Place string lights in and through the fluff, until it is covered
Step 3: Fill jar with 4-6 plastic spiders, and add fluff and lights, so that spiders are on the outside of jar
Step 4: Seal jar and repeat

Milk Jug Spider
What You’ll Need:
- 1 Empty Gallon of Milk or Water
- 8 foam pipe insulation tubes
- 1 Roll of black vinyl tape
Step 1: Use tape to wrap your milk jug until it is completely black
Step 2: Attach foam pipe insulation tubes to jug using tape to create legs
Step 3: Cut triangles from the center of the tubes to create bends in the legs
Step 4: Tape triangles to legs remain bent
Step 5: Terrify your neighborhood!
